Created for the inaugural Como by Design showhouse in 2018, The Gentleman’s Retreat transformed the butler’s pantry and scullery of Melbourne’s historic Como House into a richly layered private sanctuary.

Inspired by Victorian opulence and the interiors of America’s East Coast, the installation combined custom cabinetry, fireclay sinks, brass tapware, encaustic tiles and sumptuous velvet. Pieces from the National Trust of Victoria, The English Tapware Company, Ralph Lauren, Icon Radford and Earp Bros completed the theatrical yet carefully restrained interior.
