Drawn to the original character of this time-worn Sassafras residence, Justin Bishop and his husband, Guy, undertook its careful restoration, preserving the tall ceilings, detailed timberwork and quiet strength that first distinguished the home.

A substantial extension completed in 2012 was conceived to feel entirely connected to the original architecture. Salvaged materials and period-appropriate detailing give the new rooms an established sense of age and belonging. Inspired by the classical principles of Robert Adam and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the completed home reflects Justin’s enduring respect for proportion, craftsmanship and architectural continuity.
